Report on the Games

Texas 17 BYU 16

The Cougars could not make a 13-0 lead stand as Texas rallies in the second half to nip the Cougars.  Heaps, as good as he was in the first half, could not find receivers in the second half.  On his last play of the game, and interception.

USC 24 Utah 14

The Utes Second half rally falls short.  They lined up for a game tying field goal, but it was blocked and returned the block for a touchdown.  The offense could not do anything with 5 4th quarter possessions.

Utah State 54 Weber State 17

It took USU until the 3rd quarter to get over the loss to Auburn.  Robert Turpin, who almost out gained the Wildcats by himself, steamrolled the WSU defense.

Southern Utah 35 Sacramento State 14

The same FCS team that pulled out an exciting overtime win in Corvallis against the Beavers, flew into Cedar City and laid a big egg.  The Thuderbirds dominated the line of scrimmage and outscored the Hornets 20-7 in the 2nd quarter.
