Jake Heaps and the New QB Contoversy

I have not been to BYU's practices, but I have read from those who cover the Cougars that Heaps is not the same guy on the field during the game that he is in practice.  That is something that happened to me playing basketball and as a musician.  And it is a problem that the coaches need to address.  Surely, there is some sort of confidence issue, some sort of maturity issue, something that is not right upstairs.  Brandon Gurney even reports that Heaps has regressed.

What happens when a QB is benched and his backup comes in and wins the game?  The fans begin to demand that the backup become the starter.  Not certain that will happen right away, however, the Cougars have a long week coming up.  If a change is to be made, this would be the week to make it.

It is adversity that can make a person stronger.  Getting benched breaks more people than it makes.  Heaps could be a better quarterback after riding the pine for a while.  But it could be that we will never hear of him again.
