Report of the game...Utah State at BYU

BYU 27 Utah State 24...

For the third time in four games, Utah State loses at the buzzer.  Riley Nelson, whose little bother just committed to the Aggies, engineered a 96-yard drive which ended in a tipped-ball touchdown with 11 seconds remaining.

Utah State appeared to have the game in control.  The Aggies scored an 80-yard Robert Turbin touchdown on the first play of the game and went up 21-13 in the 3rd quarter when Robert Turbin rambled 24 yards on a screen from Chukie Keeton.  The Aggies carried a 24-13 lead with 12:43 remaining in the game.

After two drives netted 16 yards to begin the second half, Jake Heaps was pulled from the game in favor of former Aggie Nelson, who seemed to ignite the offense.  Heaps had a good first quarter, but then went cold.  BYU hit the 200 yard rushing mark for the first time this season.  Nelson was also the leading Cougar runner, getting a big chunk of his ground yards on the final drive.

Utah State has a home game against Wyoming before opening WAC play at Fresno State.  Hopefully these losses don't kill them but make them stronger.  BYU has homecoming against San Jose State next week before taking on a surprising futile Oregon State on the road.

BYU MVP: QB Riley Nelson
USU MVP: RB Robert Turbin
