This Changes Everything

Viewmont 24 Davis 21

This is the kind of game that is fun to watch.  The Vikings take a quick 14-0 lead, take a 17-7 lead into the half, watch Davis take over and finally score the last touchdown.  The Darts got a good game out of Tanner Hinds, what else is new, but the Vikings used a balanced attack to win the game.  Now, in the loss column, there is a three-way tie for first and if all three win out, we have a complicated tie breaker.  Davis has Fremont and Roy with a bye week remaining.  Viewmont has Fremont, Roy and Clearfield.

Syracuse 53 Clearfield 7

At one point, this game was only 13-7.  There is something wrong with the conditioning program at Clearfield.  For the second week in a row, the Falcons run out of steam halfway through the 3rd quarter.  The Titans punished them more severely than Weber did last week.  The Titans have the "easiest" road to the region championship.  (Weber and Layton with a bye week)

Layton 42 Roy 7

The Lancer team has been struggling all season.  One Lancer has had a great season, so far.  It was nice to finally have a reason to name Adam Bunting Player of the Week.

Fremont 28 Northridge 7

The Silver Wolves were one Brody Garr misque away from a shutout.  Northridge is not all that bad.  Some weeks, the Wolves look like they could beat any team in the state, and this was one of those weeks.  The remaing games are against Viewmont and Davis.  Unlikely that Fremont will win the region championship, but they will have a say in who does.

Weber 21 Bonneville 14

The Warriors hold off a Laker comeback attempt and get a win over an emotional Bonneville team.

Comment on the three-way tie.

If all three teams win out, then the second tiebreaker plays out.  This gives Syracuse the advantage.  The Titans have a bye week and the best offense and they have already played Fremont.  But easier does not mean easy.  Weber is on a roll, having won four straight.  It is too bad that one of these very good teams will not make the state playoffs.

Offensive Players of the Week: Layton RB Adam Bunting and Fremont RB Nick Vigil
Defensive Team of the Week: Fremont
