High School Regular Season Finale

Region 1 Preview for October 23.

Fremont--Bye.  Already in the playoffs, could be in as a #3 if Viewmont stumbles, but I would not worry about that.  It would be more effective and fun for the entire team to split up and scout out potential playoff opponents.

Clearfield at Viewmont
Why this game matters: The Vikings can sew up the #3 seed from region 1 if they win and could be out of the playoffs if they loose.  It should not even be close, however.  Viewmont's running game-by comittee-should wear down the undersized Falcon defense...just like Weber, Syracuse, Layton and Northridge were able to do.  Viewmont 27 Clearfield 13

Roy at Davis
Why this game matters: Davis needs to win this game to sew up the #1 seed for the playoffs.  And I am sure the Darts do not want to back into the playoffs.  Everyone else has had their way with the Royals this year.  And they have little to loose.  Roy has proven that when they have energy, the defense can rise to the occasion, until the other side breaks through.  I do not believe that the Darts will stumble in the finale, but I have always said that Roy would catch someone sleeping this year.  I have been wrong about things which matter more.  Davis 35 Roy 0.

Syracuse at Layton:
Why this game matters: Syracuse can get a share of the region title, the first in school history.  Layton is playing for shiggles, has nothing to loose and will likely pull out all stops, almost.  Adam Bunting is a two-sport star and may not want to miss basketball season.  Syracuse has the stars on defense and also will not want to back into the playoffs.
Syracuse 17 Layton 14

Weber at Northridge
Why this game matters: Weber can still get into the playoffs, but is counting on Clearfield to beat Viewmont.  The Warriors may be the best team in the state sitting on the sidelines this next week. Northridge is not that bad.  Travis Harper has put together some good games this year, but in the end David Daines and company should win out.
Weber 23 Northridge 20.
