High School Finale

First, a word about High School girls soccer.  Congrats to the Alta Hawks who won in a classic of Davis last night.  It took until the final round of penalty kicks to settle this one.  A tough loss for the Darts. 

In football, because the Kearns Cougars lost on Thursday night to West Jordan, and ended up with a sub-500 record.  There became an extra playoff spot awarded to Region 1 as only 3 Region 3 teams ended up with winning records.  This meant that the winner of the Weber-Northridge game would have claimed the extra spot.  Here is what happened:

Davis 42 Roy 0

The Darts took care of business to claim the region title and did not expend a lot of effort in doing so.  They should be well prepared for West to come to Kaysville next week.  Congratulations to Davis for winning another region championship outright because...

Layton 7 Syracuse 3

As I suspected, Adam Bunting was not the "go to" guy for the Lancers.  He shared duty with Derek Thomas who scored the only touchdown of the game.  The Titan defense proved ready for the playoffs, but the offense was not there.  Layton was not nearly the best defense in the region this year.  Next week's opponent, Skyline, is almost everything Layton failed to be this year. 

Viewmont 25 Clearfield 12

Jeremy Leiber and company took care of business in Bountiful. The Vikings earn, for their trouble, a trip to Cottonwood to take on the Colts.

Weber 32 Northridge 29

It was a back and forth game on Hill Field Road on Friday.  Weber scored last and intercepted Travis Harper on the next Knight drive to win the game.  The Warriors earn a trip to Hunter as the #4 seed for the playoffs.

Fremont-Idle

The Silver Wolves earned a trip to Alta as the tiebreakers put them in at the #5 seed.
