High School Predictions for 9/16

September 16 Games

Syracuse--Bye.  They earned some time off, but will be rooting for Fremont this week.

Davis at Fremont--The D-News reports that Davis is in the Playoffs and they also report that the Silver Wolves are in as well.  Regardless, the Darts have more to loose than Fremont.  But the Silver Wolves are very tough at home.
Davis 23 Fremont 15.

Layton at Weber

The Lancers are not yet out of the playoffs, neither are the Warriors and depending on how things work out.  Neither team will be able to afford to watch the scoreboard as the looser will be home for the playoff for certain.  Adam Bunting has been a force all season, even against the best defenses in the region.  Weber has David Daines, but Weber has been inconsistent offensively.  I suspect that Daines will have a big game against the Lancers.  The team that has the ball last will win.  Weber 31 Layton 28

Northridge at Clearfield

This rivalry has lost some of it's luster since Syracuse opened three years ago.  But it is intense enough.  These schools are the two closest high schools in Davis County.  Many of these kids were on the same little-league teams and worship together on Sunday, but will be on opposite sidelines on Friday.  Travis Harper and the Knight offense have not been consistent, but the Falcon defense has been consistently weak.  They, the Falcons, will have to pull together a good effort and provide plenty of pressure to Harper to give Kolton Young and the offense a chance.  Northride 42 Clearfield 18

Viewmont at Roy

All year, I have been saying that someone is going to look past Roy all season and that the Royals will not be winless.  There are only two games left.  The Viewmont Vikings can not afford to be that team.  They need to shake off the close shave they got at the hands of Fremont last week.  At this point of the season, even though the game is in Roy, expect that there will be more Viking boosters in the crowd.  That can happen to a team that has scored only five offensive touchdowns all season.  Austin Cheney has not delivered the season that was predicted.  He should have a big game.  Viewmont 24 Roy 6.
