When Ron McBride stepped down from Utah, the Utes hit a home run in replacing him with Urban Meyer, who then went on to coach for Florida. Will McBride be replaced by another Meyer? That hire was probably one in a million, but there are some good coaches. Here are some of my thoughts...
BTW...this is thinking out loud...I have no insider information.
My Choice
Weber State alum Robb Akey is the current and will likely soon become the former coach at Idaho. I remember interacting with Akey when I returned home from my LDS mission and worked as a Math Tutor for the Football Team. (He was NOT one of my students.) He was at Weber State at the end of the Mike Price era and the beginning of the Dave Arslenian era and on the first WSU team to make the NCAA quarter finals. He is very enthusiastic and has done well in what is really a no-win situation in Idaho. (Not even Dennis Ericson could succeed at Idaho).
Other Possibilities
Current Weber Assistants Jake Cookus who is the co-defensive coordinator, Matt Hammer who is the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach, Colton Swan who is the other co-defensive coordinator and assistant and former Tennessee Titan Andre Dyson. The main drawback to any of these coaches is their lack of experience.

Utah State offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin
BYU's Steve Kafusi or Paul Tidwell, both defensive assistants in Provo
Utah's Dave Schramm, Aaron Roderick or Morgan Scalley
Current Coaches as other FCS schools...
I can not think of any at this time...who would come to Weber?

Don Eck would be a good coach. He was the O-line coach a couple years back. He went on to be a coach at Las Vegas UFL team. I also could see Dave Arslanian coming back. But I like the idea of Dan Hawkins...
Also, I haven't seen any posts about BYU going to the Big East.. What do you think? Bronco mentioned that they have been contacted.
