Saving the WAC...Props to the Bulldogs and Aggies

Boise State is in the Mountain West Conference.  Nevada, Hawaii and Fresno State are following the Broncos next season.  I bet no one would have guessed that the WAC will have a defending champion in 2012, but they do.  Congratulations to the 2011 WAC football champions...the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.  And they will return in 2012 to defend their title.

Their biggest challenger win 2012 could be the surprise 2nd place team from 2011, the Utah State Aggies.  If the Northern Aggies beat the Southern Aggies on Saturday, the WAC will return their #1 and #2 from 2011 in 2012.  Who would have guessed that would happen?  Not only that, Boise State may not go to the Big East.  And if that happens, the WAC-Armageddon that people have predicted may not happen at all.

So, those who chose the post-season awards from the WAC have a choice.  Will it be Louisiana Tech's Sonny Dykes or Utah State's Gary Anderson?  Why not both?  I hear by lobby Karl Benson to have co-coaches of the year in the WAC this year!  If the WAC is still around as a football conference in 2014, a lot of the credit for that will belong to Dykes, Anderson and the programs they have built.

Too bad that Tech will have to put their 7-game winning streak on the line in the Poinsettia Bowl against Kellen Moore and Boise State.  But then again, why not put that that defense against the best?

What makes you think BSU isn't going to the Big East? If they have two western partners in AFA and SDSU then they are gone.
