What if the NFL Playoffs Were Held Today? November 22, 2011

Of course, this is not unique to this blog at this time of year.  If a major virus hit the country today, here is the NFL playoff picture.

NFC

East--Dallas
North--Green Bay
South--New Orleans
West--San Francisco

Wild Card--Chicago, Detroit
NFC Home Field--Green Bay

Brackets

Chicago at Dallas winner to play at Green Bay
Detroit at New Orleans winner to play at San Francisco

Championship game home field...Green Bay

Tie Breakers:
Dallas and New York have yet to meet in the regular season.  Dallas has the better division record.
Detroit and Chicago have split their regular season series.  Chicago has the better division record.  Both are Wildcard teams, but Chicago will play the division champion with the weaker record.

AFC

East--New England
North--Pittsburgh
South--Houston
West--Oakland

Wild Card--Baltimore, Cincinnati

Brackets

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh winner to play at New England
Baltimore at Oakland winner to play at Houston

Championship game home field...Houston

Tie Breakers

Pittsburgh has won both regular season games against Baltimore.  Pittsburgh is the division champion.
Houston, Pittsburgh and New England have identical records.  Houston will not play either Pittsburgh or New England.  New England defeated the Steelers, therefore, Pittsburgh will not get the first round bye.  Houston and New England have identical conference records.  Houston has the better division record.
