State Quarters

First of all, my apologies.  I have finished with a Masters Degree and all that I have wanted to do since is sleep.  I used my blogs as a way to warm up to some more serious writing.  It has been fun, and I hope to continue.  There are two Region 1 teams alive in the 5A playoffs.

Syracuse at Bingham

There is not an offense in this state like that of the Bingham Miners.  There is not a defense in this state like that of the Syracuse Titans.  This is the first meeting between these two schools, and will likely not be the last.  Both programs are loaded and will be good for a long time.  The Titans have over 25 sacks so far this year.  A good statistic at any level of football, including the NFL.  The Miners are going to have to keep the ball and keep Jake Dallimore and Dimik Hunter away from quaterback Ty Hannay.  While Syracuse will attempt to disrupt the offense and create opportunities for Tanner Russell and thier offense.  The Miners are a big favorite in this game and while they may be a more balanced team, should not look past Syracuse or they will be watching the rest of the playoffs from the stands.

Pleasant Grove at Davis

The Darts have been here before, a favorite against the other Vikings and have been surprised.  The PG Vikings were one of the favorites heading into the season this year, but ended up as a second place team.  Pleasant Grove brings to Kaysville something that Region 1 lacks, and that is a good passing attack.  Dallas Lloyd is one of the better quarterbacks in the State right now.  He is headed to Stanford, which also means that he is smart.  Someone that could be a teamate of Lloyd's next year is Davis's Tanner Hinds (who has yet to commit to a school, but Stanford is on the list).  In order for Pleasant Grove to win, they will need to use the same game plan that the other Vikings used to beat the Darts.  Force the Darts to make mistakes.  Otherwise, Davis will control the clock and keep Lloyd cooling on the sidelines.

Davis 24 Pleasant Grove 14

Winner plays the winner of Cottonwood at Alta
