I wanted to find something to say about RSL getting into the MLS Cup final, but found it hard to believe that they got there. I am still shaking my head about about that.
Now they have won the championship. They took the second season for RSL to get going. In November in two seasons, the Royals are 5-1-1 and 4-0-0 this year. They took it to Columbus in a two-game goal aggregate series and won both games. They held Chicago with the mighty Cualtomec Blanco and Brian McBride and mates scoreless for 120 minutes. Then they equaled Beckham and Donovan in Seattle. They won both of the last two games with penalty kicks. Nick Rimando was a brick wall when he needed to be.
So celebrate. This is Utah's first major league championship since the 1971 Utah Stars of the now defunct ABA. Let's hope that it is not another 38 years to the next one.
