Alta vs Bingham
Some are calling this the matchup of the year. Alta has a passing offense led by quarterback Jordan Brown. The Hawks also have A'l Ho-Ching on defense. This linebacker is all over the field, and has ten sacks. The Miners have quarterback Ty Hannay. He does not have the numbers to match Brown, but when you have a running attack with the likes of Harvey Langi, you don't need to put up big numbers to win games. The Miners also feature a balanced defense: Travis McRae has five interceptions. I like the team that has the more balanced attack, and the Miners are more balanced on both sides of the ball.
Bingham 26 Alta 17
Davis vs Hunter
Readers of this blog know that I think a lot of Davis RB Tanner Hinds. But the Darts have other stars. On offense, junior Gavin Fowler leads Davis. On Defense, Josh Kariya is the star. Hunter has a star in La'au Tanuvasa at running back. The Wolverine defense has only once given up more than 30 in regulation. This battle isn't getting the press the other semi-final battle is getting, but it will be just as intense. A high scoring game for two teams that feature such great defenses and good runners would be in the 20s.
Davis 17 Hunter 13
