The College Football Season is Here

First,

Mr. Cool as a Cumcumber for the week, so far, is Utah QB Terrance Cain. Now that he has those butterflies behind him, we will see how good he can become.

Predictions:

1. BYU vs Oklahoma. The weak link for the Cougars last year was speed. TCU, Utah and Arizona had speed. If BYU is to hang with the Sooners they will have to deal with the speed. I think this will end up like the Utah game last year, where BYU keeps the game close for at least the first quarter, maybe for 3, but will fall in the end.

Note about BYU: This is what BYU needs to schedule from here on out. But the Cougars are about 4 to 5 years away from truly being able to compete at this level. (Yes, that is how much damage Gary Crowton did to the program.)

2. Weber State vs Wyoming. This could be one of the games where an FCS team beats an FBS team. It will likely be a shootout in Laramie. Trevyn Smith is the best at his level and would likely start for most FBS schools. He will be too much for the Cowboy Defense. But the Cowboys will answer--they have the tools. This one is a tossup. I picked Wyoming to finish last in the MWC, but they will end up on the plus side of a shootout in the conference at least once this season.
