Must Win Games the Weekend

Utah State at San Diego State

Is this a must-win game for the Aggies? Not exactly, they have BYU coming next week and we all know that BYU is not BYU this year. But the Cougars are not to be underestimated and could find their swagger either this week or next week. The Aggies are 1-2 right now and would have difficulty crawling out of a 1-3 hole even with all of the other creme puffs in the WAC coming up. Not a must win, but may as well be. San Diego State will be 3-1 with a win and half-way to their first bowl bid in years.

Nevada at BYU

This game is not a must-win for the Cougars, but BYU's offense needs to find their moxie. The two quarterback system is done and Jake Heaps gets all of the reps in this week's practice. The Cougars should score more than twice, and should score in the second half. They need to establish an offensive rhythm and become more "BYU-like". They have TCU and Utah coming up and Utah State and San Diego State will not be so easy this year. Going 1-3 will make it challenging to get to a bowl game this season, but it is still possible. Not a must win, but the team needs to make some positive progress this week.

UC Davis at Weber State

This game has must-win written all over it for both teams. The reasons are the same for both teams. In the FCS, there is no post season for a 6-5 team. A third loss for Weber probably means that they will need to win all of their remaining FCS games. They conclude the season at Texas Tech. Davis has FCS competition from here on out, but does not belong to a conference with an automatic playoff bid. They Aggies will also need to win out with a loss to maintain any post season hope with a loss. Both teams need this win.
