College Preview for 12/15

Big Sky Conference

Stephen F Austin @ Montana

The Grizzlies proved last week that they have the ability to score a lot of points in a hurry when they have to.  Now Jeremy Moses brings the Lumberjacks to Missoula where the forecast calls for light snow with the temp in the low 20s and the wind chill will be close to or below zero.  SFA is from North Texas, so this is likely not the first time they have seen snow.  The tundra at WG Stadium will be cold.  If SFA can acclimate, this should be a good game, with two high-powered offenses on the field.
Montana 49 SFA 42

WAC

 Fresno State at Illinois
This game has all the charm of an NFL pre-season or week 16 game.  The outcome of this game will have no effect on the post-season prospects for either team.  But there is the problem of momentum into next season for Illinois or the Bowl game for Fresno.  The Bulldogs could end up with a key injury heading into Bowl Season where their opponent will be either SMU or Wyoming depending on which bowl they end up in.  Ryan Matthews, who has not played since early in the Nevada game, needs to finish strong to be in the Heisman conversation next season.  This is the perfect stage for him to launch that campaign.
Fresno 31 Illinois 13

San Jose State at Louisiana Tech
I have to think that there is enough space between the Bulldogs and the Spartans for an easy La Tech win at home.  But this is Dick Tomey's last game and there is bound to be a sparse crowd in Reston for this one.  That spells U-P-S-E-T.
San Jose State 28 Louisiana Tech 10

New Mexico State at Boise State
The Broncos have everything to loose and the Aggies have nothing to loose.  Still, I expect that the Broncos will likely take care of busienss and win big.  Otherwise, it would be the upset of the year.
BSU 49 NMSU 13

Wisconsin at Hawaii
Hawaii has everything to gain and Wisconsin has nothing to gain.  Who knows if the Badgers will actually show up at the stadium and play the game or if they will let Hawaii run all over them.  With a bowl game clinched, will the Badgers play conservative?  Or will they have a fire after the way they lost to Northwestern?  We know how the Warriors normally play at home.  The mental state of the Badgers will be the key.
Wisconsin 17 Hawaii 10

MWC

We are all done here, no games this week.  Therefore, who each team is rooting for:

TCU--Pulling for Nebraska to upset Texas and to get a shot at the National Championship game.
BYU--Pulling for New Mexico State to beat Boise State, for Cincinnati to win big against Pittsburgh and for the NCAA to declare Virginia Tech ineligible for the post season.  You figure out why.
Utah--Anything that will make BYU look bad.  Well, Ute fans will look for any excuse to razz Cougar fans and would love to see BYU in a bowl match-up where they will be in over their heads.
Air Force--Army by less than 3.  This gives the Falcons the Commander in Cheif's trophy.
Wyoming--New Mexico State over Boise State.  That should put Idaho, the weakest of the WAC's bowl schools, in the New Mexico Bowl.
UNLV--Pulling to get a new head coach before all of the good recruits are taken
San Diego State--New Mexico State to be able to come out ahead on the "we beat x who beat y" game.
Colorado State--For the Volleyball Rams to keep rolling in the NCAA tournament.
New Mexico--Any scenario that will bring a good kicker to Albuquerque next fall.
