Big Sky Basketball Power Rankings

I can not find the justification; but everyone, except Idaho State, is playing a conference game or two this weekend.  It is likely to help everyone keep a lighter schedule during finals, and that is the most important reason these kids are here.  On the plus side, it should help clear up where everyone stands.  Some schedules, like Idaho State and Weber State are brutal, and others are not so much.

1.  Northern Colorado
Still unbeaten, this time they had an easy time with the Fighting Sioux.  This week, they get a chance to go 2-0 against the Mountain West by hosting Colorado State tonight.  Then they get the Montana road trip over with early.  Bozeman on Friday, Missoula on Saturday.  If they are still unbeaten after this week, they will be hard to knock out of the top spot.
2.  Montana
The Grizzlies lost in Seattle to the Huskies, but only by four.  They have Northern Arizona on Friday and Northern Colorado on Saturday.  The battle of the Bears, even though it will be early, is already looking like an important game.
3.  Northern Arizona
The Lumberjacks were blown out by San Diego State this last week.  They do not play again until the Friday night visit to Dahlberg Arena.  Saturday, Worthington Arena and the Bobcats.
4.  Eastern Washington
Lost at Idaho this last week.  The Eagles play host to Walla Walla College to open December.  Then they travel to Portland State.
5.  Montana State
The split a pair on the left coast this week.  Won at San Francisco but lost at Oregon.  The Bobcats host both Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona this week.
6.  Weber State
The preseason conference favorites played with BYU in Provo for about 30 minutes before fading away,  even had a lead in the 2nd half.  Otherwise, they would be lower.  They have another instate game at home against Utah before playing at Sacramento State on Saturday.
7.  Idaho State
In a break in their brutal schedule, they won at UM-Kansas City. But it was the eye of the storm. Have road games against Notre Dame and Utah this week.
8.  Sacramento State
Dropped a pair this week.  At Idaho and at Cal Riverside.  Travel across the river to play UC Davis before a Saturday date with Weber State at home.
9.  Portland State
The Vikings are the biggest disapointment of the early season so far.  They lost at Stanford this weekend, but were only down by five at the half.  The second half was all Cardinal.  Host Eastern Washington on Saturday.  Being on the quarter system, the team is in the middle of finals right now, hence no mid-week games.
