Reportedly, Texas A&M is upset of the Longhorn Network and their plans to broadcast HS football games. Could this scenario that I floated in May come to pass?
SEC invites Texas A&M and Oklahoma
Texas becomes independent
ACC invites West Virginia and Rutgers
Big East invites Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma State and non-football schools spin-off a new conference
Big 12 disbands
MWC invites Texas Tech and Kansas State
WAC invites Iowa State
C-USA invites Baylor and MTSU
Or...
SEC invites Texas A&M and Oklahoma
Texas becomes independent
ACC invites West Virginia and Rutgers
Big 10 invites Missouri and Kansas
Big East invites Kansas State, Texas Tech, Baylor and Iowa State and spin off non-football schools into a new conference.
No more Big 12.

I've come to believe there will be no 16 team "super-conferences". Instead:
Big East will invite: Kentucky and Vanderbilt from the SEC; and Kansas from Big12.
SEC invites: Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, and Missouri from Big12.
Big12 Rebuilds with: Rice, SMU, Houston, TCU, Tulsa, and Boise State.
Big East replaces TCU with: Marshall
I doubt the sec schools would leave even if they are cupcakes when it comes to football. The big 12 dissolving I can see happening.
If Texas goes independent that will put the college world into a frenzy. Good bye Big 12.
The Big Ten will only accept schools with an AAU accreditation and they are looking to expand their tv markets. That is why syracuse, rutgers (new york market) are targets. If the big 12 disbanded missouri/kansas would likely be targets and you could see a big 16 with one of these schools Pitt (solid bball&football renewed rivalry with Penn St) Rutgers (ny/nj market) syracuse (poor football good bball, partial ny market) mizz and kansas (good bball kansas city market) The Big Ten will invite Notre Dame & again get rejected.
With the Big East losing 2 schools (Pitt, Syracuse or Rutgers) the AQ status will be in jeopardy. The Big East will also be looking to keep TCU happy and add schools that will help with their traveling concerns. Big East invites Texas Tech, Ok St., Baylor UCF, Houston = 12 schools. Villanova could also jump into the mix if the stadium issues are resolved. I've also read about BYU joining which would solve east/west split. The basketball situation could play out by Kicking Depaul and Providence out with 2 teams already gone leaving 4 open spots. Adding BYU and the other would turn the league into a 18 team bball league with a East/West split.
Oklahoma & Texas A&M to the SEC = 14 schools. Sec still a powerhouse adds 2 teams.
With Houston leaving C USA & UTEP always feeling like they are a better fit for a western conference join a better Mountain West. SMU not wanting to stick around as the CUSA begins to fall apart also joins Mountain West. = 12 teams championship game. Mountain West gains AQ statues.
CUSA attempts to stop the fleeing brings Kansas St, Iowa st. With Rice being the only Texas team in CUSA, North Texas finally gets it wish and joins. CUSA reasoning to keep Texas recruiting. With the loss of the UCF & the Florida market CUSA will look to either Sunbelt Florida schools for recruiting purposes. Other schools of interest could be the rebuilt Temple program and LA Tech. Jacksonville St, App St or Troy could also be considered but they are smaller schools probably better fit for the sunbelt.
If LA Tech leaves the WAC that would leave them in dangerous territory. UTA brings back football which is a start to the recovery. Keeping with targeting major tv markets Portland St, Cal Poly, UC Davis join the WAC. I'd like to see Weber St in and maybe if independence fails for BYU they can join. Giving the utah area a great 3 team rivalry.
The Pac 12 would probably make some moves for the big 12 schools but I don't see much of a fit due to it locations.
The ACC may not stand pat either but I again don't see many fits or have heard any rumors. Navy or army??
The MAC has added U MASS and if Richmond or James Madison decide they are ready I could see a fit. Iowa St would fit the geographic footprint of the MAC but would they want to concede their status as a large conference program
Most of my predictions are just based on some rumors of moves and logical fits. I also don't know if there are any legal agreements between sister schools to stick together. I have read that Kansas wouldn't leave K St behind but when push comes to shove what would really happen. What do think?
Pitt fans are dying to get into the ACC. I think it would be Pitt/WVU rather than WVU/Rutgers
