Stadium Expansion Revisited

One of the most popular posts on this blog has been about the potential to expand the football stadiums in the Beehive State.  I have updated information on the expansion of Rice Eccles Stadium.

Shortly after it was announced that Utah would join the PAC-10, the issue was brought up.  It was mentioned by athletic director Hill that expansion is in the master plan, and that they can add another 30,000 seats and keep the stadium within it's current footprint.  This will involved doing what I suspected back when I wrote the original blog.  The south end-zone seats would be demolished and the "bowl" will be completed.  Doing just this will add another 8,000 seats, bringing the capacity to around 60,000.  The other 20,000 seats involved adding a deck to the east side.
